Library Carrel Regulations

Regulations: Student Library Carrels

  1. The use of a carrel is a privilege that can be revoked; it is not a right.
  2. Those who choose to ignore these regulations will forfeit their carrel privilege.
  3. Each closed carrel is for the exclusive use of students assigned to that carrel.
  4. It is permissible to swap carrels with another carrel holder, but only after the change has been registered with Michelle Fidler, ext. 5049.
  5. No tobacco products are allowed in the library or in carrels. Beverages are allowed only in approved spill-proof containers.  If there is a spill of any kind, you are responsible for cleaning it up and contacting the circulation desk.
  6. Food is not to be stored in the carrels or lockers.  Carrels and lockers are to be kept clean of debris and food stuff.  If a carrel is consistently in a state of disrepair, fines will be levied and/or carrel privileges removed.
  7. Carrel windows must remain unobstructed and free of any coverings, stickers, etc. unless otherwise approved by the Manager of Access Services.
  8. Furniture from other areas of the library may not be placed in carrels.
  9. All library materials kept in a carrel must have been properly charged to the student.
  10. Non-circulating materials (periodicals, reference works) may not be kept in carrels.
  11. Carrels should be kept locked.
  12. The College is not responsible for personal items that may be lost, stolen or damaged.
  13. Carrel checks are done weekly.
  14. Students, who have been summoned to a conversation with the Manager of Access Services, must respond within one working day.
