The Greenslade Special Collections and Archives, housed in Olin and Chalmers Libraries, consists of two main collections: Special Collections, and the Kenyon College Archives. Special Collections includes rare books and special subject research collections. The Kenyon College Archives contain material related to the history and people of Kenyon College.
Materials housed in the department do not circulate, and the stacks are closed to the public. Materials may be consulted, however, in the Reading Room by anyone with valid photo identification. Use of Special Collections and Archives materials is subject to a set of regulations. We ask that researchers interested in visiting the collections in person make an appointment in advance.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable resource and are given individual assistance on the use of primary sources/rare materials in their research papers. Faculty are encouraged to utilize the resources of the Greenslade Special Collections and Archives, not only in their own research, but with their classes as well. We welcome the opportunity to introduce Special Collections and Archival materials into the classroom. We are available for instruction sessions or curricular planning, and we are happy to have classes and campus groups visit by appointment.
