Turn the camera upside down. Slide the door listed OPEN (BATTERY) out. The door should release and spring upwards. Insert the battery, with rounded side towards the front of the camera, making sure the triangular arrow on battery is pointing into battery compartment. Push the battery down until the gray holder locks it in place. Close cover.
Using camera with power adapter:If the battery is low, you can still use the camera plugged into the power adapter. Connect the power adapter and extension cord together. Uncover the port (with the words DC IN) on the left side of the camera and insert the camera end of the extension cord into it. Plug the two-pronged plug of the extension cord into a wall socket.
If battery requires recharging, follow the instructions immediately above (connecting the camera to the power adapter) to charge the battery. The Power ON/OFF lamp lights up when charging begins. When lamp turns off, it is fully charged. Disconnect charger when charging is completed.
To insert a floppy disk, simply slide it into the floppy-disk port on the right side of the camera. The disk must be inserted with the metal end first and should have the label side facing toward back of camera. Be sure to move the light blue slider switch next to the display screen on the back of the camera to FD to set the camera to use the floppy disk.
To remove a floppy disk use the thunb release located next to the floppy disk port. Slide the dotted button with an arrow on it to the left and then slide the "grip" (that sticks out) downward. The disk should pop part-way out, and you should now be able to pull the disk the rest of the way out.
To insert a memory stick, open the door labeled Memory Stick on the right side at the back of the camera. Slide the memory stick into the port, arrow facing into the hold, until it locks into place. Close cover. Be sure to move the light blue slider switch next to the display screen on the back of the camera to MS to set the camera to use the memory stick.
To remove a memory stick, push in on the top of the stick. The memory stick should pop part-way out. You should now be able to pull the memory stick the rest of the way out.
Still images are recorded in .JPG format.
Remove the lens cap by squeezing in both sides and pulling it away from the camera.
Turn the camera on by moving the sliding switch (located to the right of the display screen) all the way down while holding down the small green button on it. When you let go, it should spring back up. Set the slider switch located beneath the display screen to Still. You may want to turn on the display screen's backlight by moving the slider switch located beneath the display screen to LCD Backlight.
To zoom in and out, move the slider located on the left front of the camera beneath the shutter button.
To focus a shot, hold the camera steady and gently press the shutter button half-way. A blinking green dot should appear on the display. When the green dot stops blinking and the camera makes a double-beep noise, the camera has focused. Press the shutter button the rest of the way in to take a picture.
To adjust the flash settings, press the flash button on the bottom left at the rear of the camera. The button is labeled by an image of a bolt of lightning. The flash settings will be displayed on the display screen. Options are: red-eye reduction, normal flash, no flash, and automatic flash.
After you have taken a picture, the word RECORDING should appear in red on the display screen while the camera saves the picture to your media. Once the screen no longer displays the word RECORDING, the camera is ready to take another picture.
To view pictures that you have taken, move the slider switch beneath the right side of the display screen to Play. Press the up-arrow on the the circular arrow button (under Menu) to access the Quick Review screen. You can scroll through the pictures saved on your media by pressing the left or right arrows on the button. To exit the Menu, press the down-arrow on arrow button. To return to normal recording mode, press the shutter slightly.
To delete a saved image, press the up-arrow on the arrow button to access the Quick Review screen. Find and highlight the Delete option. Select it by pressing in the center of the arrow button. Then confirm that you want to delete by selecting OK and pressing the center of the arrow button. To exit the Menu, press the down-arrow on the arrow button.
The camera may display a blue screen with FORMAT ERROR printed on it. The solution begins by making sure you are in Still mode; if you are in Play mode, formatting will not work. To check for Still mode, see the slider switch under the display screen.
Then press the up-arrow on the arrow button and scroll left or right to the FILE option. Press the center of the arrow button to select it. Then scroll up the menu to Disk Took and press the center of the arrow button to select it. Last, find the option FORMAT and press the center of the arrow button to select it.
Turn the camera off and replace the lenscap. Remove your media.
Remove the battery by opening the battery compartment door and sliding the Battery eject lever to the right. The battery should pop up part-way. Slide the battery out and close the compartment door.
Place the camera, battery, power adapter and extension cord back in the camera case.
