To Register a Wireless Device with the Kenyon Network

  1. Before you begin, find and record the MAC address of your device's wireless antenna. This can usually be found in the Settings. Consult your owner's manual for more information. (See also our page on finding MAC addresses of popular devices.)
  2. To successfully register your device, you must disconnect it from the wireless network for at least 30 minutes after registering it. If you do not know how to turn off the wireless antenna, power the device off. Leave the wireless antenna or device off until you have completed the steps below.
  3. In a web browser, go to https://kenyontips.kenyon.edu/guestconnect/slogin.action
  4. Enter your Kenyon username and password. Click Login.
  5. Under the Configuration heading on the left side of the screen, click Devices.
  6. Click Add Device on the right side of the screen by the green plus sign.
  7. Enter in the MAC address of your device, using a colon (:) to separate each set of two characters. When you're done, the MAC address should be formatted like this: AB:C1:23:45:DE:FC.
  8. Click the calendar icons to set the beginning and end dates of device registration. You can register a wireless device for up to 360 days from the date of activation.
  9. Click the blue Restrictions bar and select the type of device you are registering. Click Add to confirm your selection.
  10. When you have entered the above information, click Save. (If unsuitable or insufficient data is entered, you will see an error message. If this occurs, please double-check the information you entered in the form).
  11. After you click Save, a summary of your device's information will appear.

To Renew a Wireless Device

When the registration for your device expires, you can renew its account from the Devices home page, instead of deleting the registration and adding it again. When a device's registration expires, its entry will show a red Expiry Time (otherwise black for valid registrations).

  1. In a web browser, go to https://kenyontips.kenyon.edu/guestconnect/slogin.action
  2. Click Devices under the yellow configuration header to manage your wireless devices.
  3. Click the entry for the device you wish to renew.
  4. Update the Activate and Disable dates to reflect your new registration period (maximum is 360 days from date of activation).
  5. When you have entered the information, click Save.
  6. After you click Save, a summary of your device's information will appear; you can verify the renewal by checking the Expiry Time, which should no longer appear in red.

To Review Accounts for Registered Wireless Devices

From the homepage, click Devices. They are listed with information such as MAC address, status, and expiry date. Clicking on a device's entry will bring up the beginning and end dates of the registration as well.

To Disable (or Re-Activate) Wireless Device Accounts You Have Created

To disable a wireless device account you have created, check the box corresponding to the device's account from the Device home page and click Suspend. To re-activate a device that has been suspended, but has not already expired, check the box corresponding to the device's account and click Activate.
