Using the library during Thanksgiving Break (even from off-campus)

Are you planning to work on research projects for your classes over Thanksgiving Break? Will you be off-campus? Here are some tips from the librarians and the Olin and Chalmers Libraries' Research & Reference Desk:

* Almost all of our databases ( are available anywhere you are doing work. You don't need to be in the library or on Kenyon's campus to "use" the library. If you are asked to login with your name and barcode, simply type your full name (first name and last name) and the bar code which is found on the back of your K-Card (100000+your student id number).

* Did you know the library subscribes to over 350 databases? If you aren't sure which database is best for your project, each academic department has a page with suggested library resources appropriate for that area of study, go here to find the full list of subject pages:

* If you will be in Ohio, and near an OhioLINK library (, your Kenyon ID will allow for you to check out books at another college's library or have OhioLINK books delivered to the college library of your choice. Here are the directions on how to request the delivery of materials to another library or how to check out books at another library in the OhioLINK consortia:

* The library and its service areas will be open limited hours during break. During break, if you have any library research questions you may send them via email to the Research & Reference desk ( Monday through Wednesday but please allow about 24 hours for a response. The library will be closed Thursday through Saturday. At the end of break, the library, and the Research & Reference Desk, will re-open on Sunday, November 26 at 1:00pm. For the building and service hours during break, go to
* Or sometimes you just need to meet with someone. Why not make an appointment to meet with a librarian during the week right after break? Each academic department has a librarian ( You may contact the librarian directly or you may fill out this form: (FYI: We are available any time during the semester to meet with you, not just after break. Don't hesitate to contact us with your library research questions).
