Database of the Week: The Election Day Edition

In honor of Election Day, for the Database of the Week message this week, the library is highlighting some of our news and political resources:

  • Research the issues or learn more about political "Hot Topics" using CQ Researcher
    • A collection of in-depth reports covering health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Each report includes an introductory overview, background and chronology on the topic, an assessment of the current situation, tables and maps, pro/con statements from representatives of opposing positions, and bibliographies of key sources. Coverage is from 1923 to present.
  • Follow local election results, past and present, in the Columbus Dispatch online.
    • Follow the news, events, and election results from throughout the rest of Ohio and the nation, using America's News.
  • Read up on the local Knox County political scene in the paper version of the Mount Vernon News (find a paper copy in Library B). The library also has the microfilm archives of the News dating back to 1939.
  • View documentaries on democracy (e.g. "Counting on Democracy") via Docuseek2
    • Docuseek2 presents a wide array of documentary features and films covering a large range of subjects all available for streaming from your desktop or device. Topics include art and architecture, business and economics, law and legal studies, social sciences, environment, gender studies, sciences, religion and spirituality, health and medicine, education and more.
