Windows XP Setup for SNAP
Kenyon strongly recommends that all Windows computers connecting to the Kenyon network are running a working antivirus client with up-to-date virus definitions.
These instructions assume you will be connecting wirelessly to the Kenyon Residential Network, named krsnt-g. To connect to the wired network, connect a data/ethernet cable from your computer to the network jack in your room. If you are using a data cable on a computer that has a wireless card, turn the wireless card off. You can not connect using BOTH a wired and a wireless connection. The connection instructions are similar for both wired and wireless network access.
Connecting your Windows XP computer to the Wireless Kenyon Residential Network:
Turn on your computer, and open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. You should be redirected to a log-on page. The login screen will appear (see below). Enter your Kenyon username (this is the part of your email address that appears in front of the @kenyon.edu) and password. Click Log In.

You will need to sign in again after 12 hours of inactivity to continue accessing the Kenyon network.

To logout, you can click on Click to Logout in the logout pop-up window as shown above. If your web browser blocks pop-up windows, you will need to add resnet-gw.kenyon.edu to its pop-up exception list or you will not see the logout window. At this time, it is only possible to actively log out of Bluesocket by clicking the link in the logout pop-up window. Otherwise, your device will be automatically logged out after 12 hours of network inactivity.
Problems Connecting?
If you are unable to connect to the wireless network, ensure you have configured your computer using the below instructions:
Configure your Windows XP computer for Wireless Network Access:
To successfully complete this configuration, you will need to use an Administrator account on the computer. Information about the Administrator account is determined in the initial setup of the computer. You can not get the Administrator username and password from Kenyon Staff.
Go to Start > Settings > Network Connections (in the Network and Internet Connections window of the Control Panel) and make sure that your wireless network card is installed and enabled.

If you have a wireless network icon in your system tray (found in the lower right corner of your screen near the clock, sometimes called the notification area), it should automatically sense the network and notify you. (The text of the message may be different, but it will be similar to this:)

You can also right-click on your wireless network card in Network Connections to View Available Wireless Networks.

Select krsnt-g from the list of available networks and click OK.

This completes the SNAP configuration. If you have any problems call HelpLine at x5700.
