How To: Mapping Network Drives in Windows Vista
Many Kenyon resources are available on servers (Windows or "Samba" shares) which can be mapped by network users and accessed on campus. These include personal drives (H:\ drives) and the public drive (or P:\ drive).
Make sure your computer has been authenticated on Kenyon's network.
- Ensure that you have a working internet connection and that you are authenticated through the network (in the case of non-residential wireless, make sure you're not logged in as a guest).
- Click on the Circle in the lower left corner (the Start button), choose Computer.

- Click Map Network Drive.

- Select the letter of desired drive from drop-down Drive menu. Then, enter the address of the desired server into the Folder field:
- For a student's H:\ (personal) drive, enter \\rhine.kenyon.edu\<username>$ . Note that <username> is your Kenyon network username and that it's followed by a dollar sign.
- For a staff or faculty H:\ (personal) drive, enter \\tiber.kenyon.edu\<username>$ . Note that <username> is your Kenyon network username and that it's followed by a dollar sign.
- For the O:\ (departmental) drive, enter \\vistula.kenyon.edu\<departmental share> (note the lack of "$").
- For your personal web page, enter \\personal.kenyon.edu\<username> (note the lack of "$").
- For the P:\ (public) drive, enter \\potomac.kenyon.edu\public (note the lack of "$").
- For other drives, consult Helpline at x5700.
.
- You may then be prompted for a username and password. Enter kenyon\<username> in the Username field (to tell the network to look for your username onthe Kenyon domain). Your password is your network password.
