Update Windows Vista - Apply Security Patches Automatically

Kenyon requires that all Windows computers connecting to the network keep up-to-date with Windows updates.  This document pertains to Windows Vista. If you are an XP user, click here.


  1. Click Start > Control Panel (Start menu).

  2. Select Check this computer's security status under the "Security" heading (Control Panel Home).

  3. If Automatic Updating is on (green), then you're done. Otherwise, expand the Automatic Updating field.

  4. Click Change Settings.

  5. Select Install Updates Automatically (reccomended). Vista will ask for confirmation. Click Continue.

This completes configuration for automatically downloading and applying security patches automatically.
