Macintosh OS X 10.x Setup for SNAP

These instructions assume you will be connecting wirelessly to the Kenyon Residential Network.  To connect to the wired network, follow these instructions.  The wireless network in the Residence Halls is named krsnt-g. Wireless in the Academic Buildings is named KenyonWireless.

Connecting your Macintosh OS X computer to the Wireless Kenyon Residential Network:

  1. Turn on your computer and open a web browser such as Safari or Firefox. Accept the certificate and you should be redirected to a page pictured below.

  2. Enter your Kenyon Username (the part of your email address in front of @kenyon.edu) and your Password. Click Continue. This will validate your computer system for use on the Kenyon network.
    To logout you can click on Click to logout in the logout pop-up window as shown below. If your web browser blocks pop-up windows, you will need to add resnet-gw.kenyon.edu to its pop-up exception list or you will not see the logout window. At this time, it is only possible to actively log out of Bluesocket by clicking the link in the logout pop-up window. Otherwise, your device will be automatically logged out after 24 hours of network inactivity.

  3. You will need to sign in again after 12 hours of inactivity to continue accessing the Kenyon network.
  4. If you cannot successfully connect to the wireless network in your residence hall, ensure that your computer is configured correctly, using the below instructions:

Configuring your Macintosh OS X computer for the Wireless Kenyon Residential Network:

 

1)  Turn on your Airport card. This is an option when you click on the Airport icon in the menu bar.

2)  If you don't see the Airport Icon, open your System Preferences, go to the Network Preferences, and open the Airport tab. Make sure Show AirPort status in menu bar is checked. The option to show that icon is at the bottom of the page.

3)  Your Airport card should automatically sense the Kenyon Residential Wireless Network. It will show up in the Airport menu as krsnt-g. Select krsnt-g from the menu.

4)  Follow the stops outlined in the below section titled Test Your Connection.
