Introduction to Refworks

Wat is RefWorks?

RefWorks is an online resource which allows the user to create, manage, and store bibliographies with citations collected from electronic databases. With RefWorks, you can do the following:

  • Import data directly in to your account
  • Import data from saved text files
  • Manually enter references in your account
  • Import from online catalogs or databases
  • Globally edit references
  • Save all of your citations in an organized collection of folders
  • Create a bibliography from a selection of over 100 citation styles

For more a more detailed lesson on how to use RefWorks, either contact a Librarian and Technology Consultant or look for a notice about a Common Hour class. An online tutorial is also available through the Help pull down menu, once you are logged into RefWorks.

Quick Start Instructions on How to Use RefWorks

The Ohio State University Libraries have put together a set of instructions on how to import citations using screen shots of vendor database interfaces (e.g., EBSCOhost, EJC, ISI Web of Science, JSTOR, OCLC, RLG, SilverPlatter). Click here to access this list of databases (Note: You will need to scroll down to about the middle of the page). Kenyon may not have access to every database on this list.
