Academic Author Objections to the Google Book Search Settlement
Pamela Samuelson, Professor of Law & Information at University of California, Berkeley, has written a lucid and insightful letter describing the reasons why the Google Book Search settlement proposal currently waiting for judicial approval (or rejection) does not represent the interests of academic authors.
She writes in her letter to Judge Chin of the U.S. District Court, "The signatories of this letter are academic authors who object to the Google Book Search Settlement on the grounds that the Authors Guild and the named individual author plaintiffs did not adequately and fairly represent the interests of academic authors during the litigation and the negotiations that produced this agreement."
