LBIS would like to help you protect your computer from spyware.

Steps to Protect Your Computer
Computer with Mouse 1. Set a password on the administrator account. An administrator account is present on every Windows XP computer. Some spyware, and viruses, actively seek out computers with no adminstrator account. Once inside the computer, the spyware has access to all of your files and the ability to make modify settings on your computer.

2. Do not use the auto-login option on your computer, which means that you do not need a password to login. As in item #1, having no password means easy access to potentially harmful intentions.

3. Every week, run a spyware scan. Be sure to update the file definitions before you run the scan so you have the most recent versions. LBIS recomments Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware.

4. Every week, be sure that the anti-virus software is healthy and running updates. Run LiveUpdate on the Kenyon Symantec anti-virus software and then scan your computer.
