Mapping Network Printers: Windows Vista

Kenyon offers free printing in many of the public labs located throughout campus. Network users may print to these printers by using public lab computers or by connecting to the printers directly from their personal computers.

  1. Select Start > Network.
  2. Click Add a printer.
  3. When the Add Printer window appears, select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer, then click Next.
  4. Select The printer that I want isn't listed. You don't have to wait for Vista to stop looking.
  5. Click the button next to Select a shared printer by name.
  6. Type the address of the printer you wish to map (printer names look like this: \\printers\printername). Then click Next.
  7. If the Connect to... window appears, enter kenyon\username in the Username box and your network password in the Password box.
  8. If prompted to install a new driver, click Install Driver.
  9. Enter a name for the printer you're mapping.
  10. Select whether you want this printer to be your default printer, then click Next.
  11. Click Finish to complete mapping the printer.
