If you are a Windows user, before you can set up a networked printer, you must know the name of the printer and the server it uses. A server is a computer that handles printing for a group of printers via "print queues," which have been set up for each printer on the server. Each print queue keeps track of the status and progress of the print jobs sent to it. A list of the public printers accessible to Windows computers is included in the next section of this document.

Note: ALL printer queues, both public and departmental, now reside on the new printers.kenyon.edu server.

If you are a Mac user, before you can set up a networked printer for your computer, you must know the type or model of printer and its domain name (e.g. cha3hp.kenyon.edu)or IP address. A list of the public printers accessible to Mac computers is included in the next section of this document.

If you are a new Kenyon faculty or staff member, you can find out the name of the printer and server for your office area by asking the department's administrative assistant. If you are a new student using a public lab, public lab computers are already configured to print to the printer(s) in the lab.

Update note on Mac wireless printing: Currently there are only three public printers available for Mac wireless printing on campus. They are: cha7hp (ground floor), cha3hp (2nd floor) and oln5hp (3rd floor).
