Kenyon's Laptop Loan Program for Faculty & Staff

The HelpLine coordinates reservations for Kenyon's Laptop Loan Program. Laptop computers (both Windows and Macintosh) can be borrowed by members of the faculty and staff. Below are the policies and procedures for reserving a laptop or projector.

Laptop Policies

  • Laptops are loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis to faculty or staff.
  • Laptops can only be loaned for for College-related purposes.
  • At least two days notice is needed for the HelpLine to arrange a laptop for loanout.
  • The maximum length of a loan is one month. A laptop reservation may be renewed for one additional month, subject to availability. Due to the increasing demand for laptops, they can no longer be loaned out for sabbatical periods.
  • Laptop borrowers must present a valid Kenyon ID card when picking up the laptop at the Library's Circulation Desk.
  • Laptops must be returned by the due date so that its contents can be erased and a new image installed in time for the next borrower. If it is returned late, it can adversely affect another person's reservation.
  • Laptops are installed with a standard load of College-supported software. A list of the software on the laptop is included in the laptop carrying case.
  • Special requests to have any additional College-supported software installed must be arranged at least one week in advance with the department liaison.
  • Borrowers who legally own other software they wish to install for temporary use on the laptop are responsible for installing it. The HelpLine cannot give assistance with software that is not owned or supported by the College.
  • The borrower is responsible for loss or damage to the laptop and/or accessories. Charges will be based on the cost of repairs or the replacement value.
