Mac Duplex Printing
Because Macs are not sensitive to changes made to Kenyon's Windows print
server, these computers must be manually set to take advantage of the duplex printing now offered on many Kenyon printers. Follow these instructions to enable duplex printing on a Mac running OS X:
1) Verify that the chosen printer is capable of duplex printing
• Currently, public printers are enabled for duplex printing.
• The complete list is at
http://lbis.kenyon.edu/helpline/printers/listofprintersforwindowsusers (This
list is comprehensive for both Mac and Windows computers.)
2) Check for printer drivers
• Open System Preferences and click the Print and Fax icon in the second row.

• In the list of printers that appears, click on the printer you wish to set for duplex printing. In the description of the printer that appears, be sure that the precise model of the printer is listed under Kind:.
• If Generic PostScript Printer is listed as the printer driver, visit the printer manufacturer's website to download the printer driver.

• Quit System Preferences.
3) Enable duplex printing
• Open an existing multi-page document from any program.
• Go the File menu and choose Print.

• In the window that appears, click on the pull down menu labeled Copies and Pages and select Layout.

• Next to the heading labeled Two-Sided, click the button for Long-edge binding.

• When you click Print, your document will be printed on both sides of the page.
*NOTE: If options under the Two-Sided heading are gray and inaccessible, return to System Preferences/Print and Fax, delete the printer by clicking the minus button under the list of printers, then click on the plus button to re-add the printer.
4) To save duplex printing as default
• Set Long-edge binding under the Layout option.
• Click on the pull down menu labeled Presets and choose Save as...

• Enter a name for the printing preset you are creating, such as Duplex and click OK.
5) To go back to single-sided printing
• Choose Standard from the Presets pull down menu.
• Your printing will continue to be single-sided until you reselect the
Duplex preset you created.
