New Employee Orientation: Windows Users
Welcome To Kenyon!
Below is the handout LBIS liaisons leave with each new employee during their personalized LBIS orientation session. If you are a new employee and have not yet met with your LBIS liaison (see http://lbis.kenyon.edu/directories to find the liaison for your department), please give him/her a call to schedule an appointment to set up your office computer and answer your questions. We'd also be happy to go over this information with current employees--just schedule an appointment with your LBIS liaison.
For your convenience, you can print a PDF verson of this page.

Network drives are backed up nightly. C: is the drive in your computer, and is never backed up unless you do it manually. Always save data on a network (i.e. H:\, O:\) drive.
All employees are on the employee-info mailing list, which communicates official college business. The allemp mailing list is optional. For detailed information about mailing lists at Kenyon, and how to join/leave the optional ones, see http://lbis.kenyon.edu/helpline/email/dislists
Your computer has Symantec AntiVirus installed on it. The yellow shield icon in the tray by the clock indicates its working ok. If that shield has a symbol over it, or you receive a message about your anti-virus software, call Helpline (x5700) immediately to request a support visit from the Desktop Support Team.
To ensure safe and private computing, Kenyon maintains a Virtual Private Network (VPN). You must use the VPN to access Kenyon network resources, such as network drives, specialized software, or research databases, from off campus. In addition, you can use the VPN to create a secure connection when checking your Kenyon email from off campus. For more information about the VPN, please contact the Desktop Support Team (x5805) or your liaison.
Online telephone instructions can be found at http://www.kenyon.edu/phonebook.xml For phone questions, contact Bev Actis, Telecommunications Coordinator (x5703).
Your ID card is your library card. Please have it with you when you check out books or other material.
