Scanning in Safe Mode: Windows XP and Vista

  1. Restart your computer and press F8 when the manufacturer’s logo appears on the screen.
  2. From the Windows Advanced Options Menu, select Safe Mode and press Enter.
  3. On the next screen select the operating system you use from the Please select the operating system to start menu.
  4. As Windows starts, the desktop will be grey with Safe Mode written in every corner and the resolution might be different.
  5. Run antivirus and spyware scans.
  6. Once the scans are complete, restart your computer again to reboot it in regular mode.
