Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition: Scheduling Automatic Virus Scans

  1. Double-click the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition yellow shield icon in the Windows System Tray located at the bottom right of the Windows Desktop, near the clock. Gold shield icon found in the toolbar. Toolbar is located in the lower right of the display.
  2. In the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition window that appears, under the item Scheduled Scans, click the item New Scheduled Scan, fill in the Name and Description fields as desired, and click Next. Screen capture of Symantec AntiVirus C orporate Edition Scheduled Scan creation window
  3. Set the scan to run at a time when you expect your computer to be powered on, such as at lunch time, and click Next. Choose a time when it is unlikely you will need to use the computer for other tasks.
  4. Designate the drive(s) you wish to scan by clicking the necessary checkboxes, and click Save.
  5. The Daily Scan job which was created now appears under the Scheduled Scans folder on the left side of the window.
  6. Exit the Symantec AntiVirus program. This scan can take a long time, depending on the size and contents of the hard drive. If you are using the computer to do other tasks during the scan you will notice much slower performance. If you have problems call HelpLine at 5700.
