Statistical DataSets (LexisNexis)

Statistical DataSets [when connecting, may need to reload page if nothing appears initially] aggregates over 580 datasets and makes that data available from within a single interface. Users scan the contents of these datasets, select subjects and variables of interest (e.g., geographic area and time period), and view the data in side-by-side tables and charts. Examine such issues as: How is crime related to unemployment in my hometown? Is the school dropout rate related to juvenile arrest rates? How have the stocks of the five leading defense contractors tracked against overall defense spending? Also available are user guides and tips.

Also includes data on consumer demographics and usage/spending patterns for products and services within all states, counties, census tracts, and block groups in the US. The data can be mapped, graphed, and analyzed. Data sources include Mediamark’s annual Survey of the American Consumer, BLS’s Consumer Expenditure Survey, Census 2000, the American Community Survey, and the Census of Retail Trade.

Also includes Chinese data at the levels of province, county and municipality.
